Apparently I was the first person to produce a musical on Zoom. This started during the first two weeks of the COVID-19 lockdown when I convinced a group of friends to join a full-length performance of "Fiddler on the Roof" virtually. Almost 300 people watched live and we made it into The Telegraph. We did four more productions ("Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Grease" and"Little Shop of Horrors" and "Hairspray") each one more chaotic and with more props and cross-continent group singalongs.  (The live music was a enthusiastic experimental mess!)

I had only ever been in one musical-a performance of "Annie" at summer camp when I was 10. I had no idea what I was doing. But this was the best and silliest community theatre I have ever seen. And now years later at IRL hangouts friends/actors get to meet the people they co-starred with across the world. By the end of our limited run we had thousands of audience members (there was not a ton of competition for entertainment) and some have shared they've rewatched the absurd recordings over the years.

People tell me all the time it was their favorite part of the pandemic and brought them needed joy.

Somehow we were still snubbed at The Tony Awards.
